Wellborn - Funeral services for Mr. Richard Gene Mitchell, 74, of Anniston will be Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremie Harrison and Rev. Keith Screws officiating with burial to follow at Forestlawn Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Mitchell passed on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at his home in Wellborn.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his sister, Dianne M. (Larry) Dunlap; nieces and nephews, Sherry Price, Andrea M. (Larry) Cowen, and Mitchell D. (Izett) Mintz.
Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his mother, Inez T. Mitchell; father, Hursell Mitchell.
Pallbearers will be Keith Screws, Terry Ponder, Joe Webb, Wayne Carden, Jeff Smith, and Ronnie Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County, a member of West Anniston Baptist Church where he was a deacon. Gene was a graduate of Walter Wellborn High School; he was an active member of the Wellborn Sportsman Club. Gene was retired from the AAD after 40 years of service. Gene was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
