Jacksonville - Wanda
Kilgore Beal, 61, passed
away on March 21, 2015
at the Regional Medical
Center in Anniston. She
was born in Anniston on
September 23, 1953 to
William Oliver Kilgore
and Doris Kilgore Jennings
and lived most of
her life in Oxford and
Jacksonville.
A Godly woman who
always had a smile, an
encouraging word and a
prayer for her family
and friends in need,
Wanda had a knack for
making others feel included
and loved. She
was a doting and devoted
mother to her daughter
and son and a loving
Nana to her grandchildren,
who she believed
completed the circle of
life. She was buoyed by
the many milestones and
accomplishments of her
children and grandchildren
and loved sharing
photos and stories
with her many friends
and church family. She
enjoyed many hobbies,
including antiquing and
traveling, but gardening
and being surrounded
by flowers brought her
the greatest joy.
Wanda graduated
from Walter Wellborn
High School and attended
Gadsden State Community
College. Wanda
obtained her cosmetology
license and later became
a laboratory technician.
She was retired
from the Regional Medical
Center in Anniston.
She will be greatly
missed by her daughter,
Sherrie Beal (Bill) Millwood;
granddaughters,
Kaylen Leeman, Carsen
Leeman and Kelsey Millwood;
grandson, Michael
Millwood and
great-granddaughter,
Kadence Porter, all of
Huntsville; son, Michael
Townsend, of Oxford
and grandchildren, the
Rev. Trent Townsend
and Ashley Townsend,
both of Heflin. Surviving
siblings include two
brothers, Kerry (Jeanette)
Kilgore and Kenneth
Kilgore, all of
Ohatchee and one sister,
Becky (Steve) Heindl, of
Weaver. She is also survived
by an uncle, Hoyt
(Ann) Nelson, of Marietta,
Ga.; aunt, Margaret
Petroff, of Lynn Haven,
Fla.; a special aunt,
friend and mentor,
Elaine Kilgore Elledge,
of Pensacola, Fla. and
several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents,
Wanda was preceded
in death by a dear
grandson, Adam Townsend;
her loving stepdad,
Lewis W. Jennings;
maternal grandparents,
William and Annistine
Kilgore; paternal grandparents,
Roscoe and Ida
Nelson; sister, Sharon
Kilgore McNeal; niece,
Olivia Zielinski and
nephew, Kenneth L. Kilgore
Jr.
A favorite song Wanda's
mom used to sing to
her as a child which she
carried in her heart and
often shared:
"There's a roof up above
me,
I have a good place to
sleep,
And shoes on my feet,
You gave me your love,
Lord,
And a fine family,
Thank you, Lord, for
y o u r
blessings on me."
Visitation will be held
from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today,
March 26, 2015, at
